Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist

A caregiver with responsibility and accountability for radiation therapy dosimetry, accurately interpreting the Radiation Oncologist's prescription, calculating and planning radiation treatments by use of treatment planning computer or hand calculations; providing support and care for the patient by use of competent technical skills, problem solving, and in cooperation with other health care team members.

Job Description

• Accurately interpret Radiation Oncologist's prescriptions.
• Calculate and plan radiation treatments using treatment planning computer or hand calculations.
• Provide support and care for patients using competent technical skills.
• Collaborate with other health care team members.

Requirements

• Required: Graduate of a medical dosimetry education program or on-the-job training with successful completion of the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.
• Preferred: Graduate of an ARRT approved School of Radiation Therapy.
• Preferred: 2 years dosimetry experience.
• Required: Certified by Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board, C.M.D. within 12 months of hire.
• Preferred: A.R.R.T.- R.T.(T).

Skills

• Competent in radiation therapy dosimetry and all associated tasks necessary to accomplish the accurate set-up, planning, and delivery of ionizing radiation therapy for optimum delivery of radiation therapy.

• Exhibits valuable time management skills.
