Audiologist
The Audiologist functions as a member of the Otolaryngology health care team in the evaluation of hearing, performing numerous specialized diagnostic procedures. This role coordinates and assesses diagnostic data to determine the probable response of hearing loss to specific medical treatment, advises in the selection of, fits, and dispenses hearing aids, and participates as a resource in the counseling, guidance, auditory training, and education of patients. The Audiologist practices within the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and American Academy of Audiology code of ethics.
Job Description
- Evaluate hearing and perform numerous specialized diagnostic procedures.
- Coordinate and assess diagnostic data to determine the probable response of hearing loss to specific medical treatment.
- Advise in the selection of, fit, and dispense hearing aids.
- Participate as a resource in counseling, guidance, auditory training, and education of patients.
Requirements
- Formal training indicated by a Master of Science in Audiology.
- CCC/A certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
- Current Kentucky state licensure.
- State license (or eligible) to dispense hearing aids.
- Minimum two years of broad clinical experience.
Physical Guidelines
- Ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position, and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day.
- Manual dexterity and articulate speech.
- Spatial/form perception.
