Physician - Occupational Medicine
Medicine for Business and Industry (MBI) operates outpatient clinics specializing in acute injury care within an Occupational Medicine setting. Our services focus on treating occupational injuries. Job Description
- Under the administrative supervision of the Regional Medical Director and Center Medical Director, the Physician provides healthcare services to patients in clinic, according to the established principles of clinical practice.
- Supports the values, mission, and vision of MBI Industrial Medicine, Inc., as evidenced by compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
- Supports the facility's positive interaction with others as evidenced by professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and appreciation of a variety of viewpoints and diversity in the workplace.
- Exhibits effective communication skills, including proper use of corporate communication systems and chain of command.
- Supports the strategic plan of MBI Industrial Medicine, Inc., as evidenced by a working knowledge of the organization’s goals, mission, and values, implementing them in daily practice.
- Participates in strategic planning activities as requested by the Center or State medical leader.
- Serves as a leader in the clinic, working in partnership with the Clinic Administrator and Center Medical Director to promote the best patient outcomes, work processes, and staff engagement.
Job Functions
- Provides healthcare to patients both in clinic and via telemedicine according to the established principles of clinical practice and the current organizational plan or need.
- Provides oversight of any Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at the Physician’s clinic location, including providing recommendations on clinical management and treatment plans when the Center Medical Director is not on site or available.
- Performs complete history and physical exams for the purpose of determining capacity to safely perform specified job functions.
- Provides medical opinion regarding job accommodations if needed to safely perform specified job functions.
- Participates in the legal process of workers' compensation, including Samm’s calls, depositions, and testifying in hearings when requested.
- Performs Fit for Duty & Return to Work evaluations.
- Evaluates and manages common occupational musculoskeletal injuries of the neck, back, and upper and lower extremities.
- Evaluates work-related injuries to the head with or without loss of consciousness, assuming the individual is currently conscious and alert.
- Evaluates work-related injuries to the chest or abdomen, with the possibility of hernias.
- Evaluates work-related lacerations of the face, scalp, and extremities.
- Evaluates work-related eye injuries, including foreign bodies to the eye, non-penetrating eye injuries, and chemical exposures.
- Evaluates work-related rashes and other occupational skin conditions.
- Evaluates occupational asthma and other work-related respiratory symptoms.
- Treats non-displaced uncomplicated fractures, including interpreting radiographs, splinting, and orthopedic referral when appropriate.
Requirements
- Board Certification in primary specialty preferred but not required in: Occupational Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, PMR, Orthopedics (preferred; others will be considered).
- FMCSA certified for DOT exams within 90 days of hire.
- Active full DEA license.
- Current BLS or ACLS certificate.
- Skills in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives in a rapidly changing business environment.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient computer skills, with ability to document efficiently in the electronic health record.
- Customer service oriented; strong organizational skills and ability to develop relationships with staff, patients, and clients.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Preferred: MRO certification.
State Specific Requirements
Arizona
- Unrestricted Arizona Medical Licensure with no active stipulations.
- Participate in the legal process of workers' compensation, including depositions and testifying in hearings when requested.
- Preferred: Able to perform treadmill stress tests.
