Center Medical Director
Medicine for Business and Industry (MBI) operates outpatient clinics specializing in acute injury care within an Occupational Medicine setting. Our services focus on treating occupational injuries. Job Description
- Working in coordination with the other members of the Center Leadership Team and under the direction of the State Medical Director, the Center Medical Director shall deliver the highest quality healthcare in an efficient, affordable, and caring manner.
- The Center Medical Director drives daily center execution following the industrial athlete model and is responsible for the assigned clinic's daily medical functions including supervision of Advanced Practice Providers.
- Provides healthcare to patients both in clinic and via telemedicine according to the established principles of clinical practice and the current organizational plan or need.
- Provides supervision of any Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at the Physician's clinic location, including medical record review/oversight, direct supervision of clinical practice, and performance feedback reviews.
- Perform complete history and physical exams including all body systems, vision, hearing, and/or electrocardiograms for the purpose of determining capacity to safely perform specified job functions.
- Provide medical opinion regarding job accommodations if needed to safely perform specified job functions.
- Participate in the legal process of workers' compensation, including SAMM's calls, depositions, and testifying in hearings when requested.
- Review and interpret radiographs of the chest to determine the presence of a pre-existing pulmonary condition prior to beginning work.
- Perform Fit for Duty evaluations.
- Evaluate and manage common occupational musculoskeletal injuries of the neck, back, and upper and lower extremities.
- Evaluate and manage work-related injuries to the head with or without loss of consciousness, assuming the individual is currently conscious and alert.
- Evaluate and manage work-related injuries to the chest or abdomen, with the possibility of hernias.
- Evaluate and manage work-related lacerations of the face, scalp, and extremities.
- Evaluate and manage work-related eye injuries, including foreign bodies to the eye, non-penetrating eye injuries, and chemical exposures.
- Evaluate and manage work-related rashes and other occupational skin conditions.
- Evaluate and manage occupational asthma and other work-related respiratory symptoms.
- Treatment of non-displaced uncomplicated fractures, including interpreting radiographs, splinting, and orthopedic referral when appropriate.
Requirements
- MD/DO
- Occupational Medicine experience preferred, but we are willing to train otherwise qualified candidates with experience in Urgent Care, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine, or Orthopedics.
- CO DOWC Level I & II accreditation preferred, required within 6 months of hire (certification expenses covered by MBI).
- FMCSA certification for DOT exams, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Current state licensure in good standing (or in process).
- Current DEA licensure.
- Current BLS or ACLS certificate.
- Skills in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives in a rapidly changing business environment.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in computer use and Electronic Medical Records systems.
- Customer service oriented; strong organizational skills and ability to develop relationships with staff, patients, and clients.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
