Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Job Description
- Provides healthcare to patients both in clinic and via telemedicine according to the established principles of clinical practice and the current organizational plan or need.
- Consults Center medical director or on-site staff physician for recommendations on clinical management and treatment plans when needed.
- Performs complete history and physical exams for the purpose of determining capacity to safely perform specified job functions.
- Provides medical opinion regarding job accommodations if needed to safely perform specified job functions.
- Participates in the legal process of workers' compensation, including calls, depositions, and testifying in hearings when requested.
- Evaluates and manages common occupational musculoskeletal injuries of the neck, back, and upper and lower extremities.
- Manages work-related injuries to the head with or without loss of consciousness, assuming the individual is currently conscious and alert.
- Addresses work-related injuries to the chest or abdomen, with the possibility of hernias.
- Treats work-related lacerations of the face, scalp, and extremities.
- Manages work-related eye injuries, including foreign bodies to the eye, non-penetrating eye injuries, and chemical exposures.
- Evaluates work-related rashes and other occupational skin conditions.
- Addresses occupational asthma and other work-related respiratory symptoms.
- Treats non-displaced uncomplicated fractures, including interpreting radiographs, splinting, and orthopedic referral when appropriate.
- Performs complete and accurate history and physical, including detailed documentation of current work-related complaint, mechanism of injury, activity and occupational limitations, leading to accurate diagnosis and medically appropriate management of the patient.
- Maintains awareness of OSHA recordability and renders medically appropriate care while being sensitive to treatment that makes an injury recordable to the employer.
- Prescribes appropriate medications and therapy.
- Orders and interprets radiographs.
- Refers for specialized testing such as MRI, EMG as necessary and appropriate.
- Refers for specialty care as appropriate.
- Identifies appropriate limitations to activity at home and work.
- Renders an opinion regarding causality and work-relatedness.
- Communicates with employers at the completion of the first visit to review the treatment plan and work capacity of the patient, and at times through the case as requested from the employer or when deemed necessary by the treating provider.
Work Schedule
- PRN, as needed (day, mid, overnight, and weekend shifts available)
Compensation
- Hourly rates range from $62.90 to $90.00, based on licensure and experience
Requirements
- Master's degree and/or appropriate state licensure to work as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- FMCSA certified for DOT exams (to gain certification within 90 days of hire)
- Active full DEA license
- Current BLS or ACLS certificate
- Skills in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives in a rapidly changing business environment
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proficient computer skills; ability to document efficiently in electronic health records
- Customer service oriented; strong organizational skills and ability to develop relationships with staff, patients, and clients
- Must maintain confidentiality
