Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Location: Whiteville, TN

Job Description:

• Dates: February 21 - March 3, 2025
• Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours with call responsibilities
• Practice Setting: Outpatient, with hospital privileges required
• Support Staff: Includes 3 physician assistants and office staff
• EMR Systems: Athena for outpatient, Centricity at the hospital
• Credentialing Timeline: Estimated 60-90 days

Responsibilities:

• Outpatient clinic 1-2 days per week (approximately 35 appointments)
• Rounding in the hospital, averaging 15 patients daily (2-4 hours)
• Call coverage with 0-2 callbacks per 24-hour shift and less than 10 calls overall
• Performing a variety of procedures, including:
  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
  • Valvular repairs and replacements (AVR, MVR)
  • Thoracic procedures such as lung resections
  • Vascular surgeries (optional but preferred), including aortic dissection repair and carotid endarterectomy

Requirements:

• License: Active Tennessee medical license required
• Board Certification: Board-certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery (fellowship preferred)
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
