Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of person(s) licensed by a State regulatory board to prescribe medication and treatment, or under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

Job Description

• Provide patient care under supervision, ensuring adherence to the nursing process.
• Coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments.
• Educate patients on a wide variety of topics ranging from procedural/surgical expectations to post-discharge medication.

Requirements

• Required Education: Practical Nursing Degree from an accredited school.
• License: Current LPN license in our state or can be obtained within 90 days.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association, IV Certification within 1 year.

The Medical A floor at Mercy Jefferson is a fast-paced 30-bed unit that cares for patients of all ages. Many of the patients are chronically ill and require multidiscipline treatment plans and goals.
