    Surgical Technologist

    Join our team in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where we offer a full-time position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM. This role includes a 20-minute call response time and a holiday call rotation split between partners on the team.

    Job Description

    • Work under the direction of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.
    • Ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
    • Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
    • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and maintain quality patient care during the operative procedure.
    • Assist the surgical team before, during, and after surgery by performing various duties including checking instruments, scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and setting up sterile tables.
    • Assist with patient placement and positioning on the table and draping sterile fields according to physician preference.
    • Perform appropriate counts for sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulator prior to the operation and before incision closure.
    • Gown and glove the surgeon and assistants, create and maintain sterile fields, and pass instruments during procedures.
    • Prepare sterile dressings and assist in cleaning the operating room after each procedure.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
    • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required or currently participating in the accreditation process.
    • Less than 1 year of experience as a Surgical Scrub Technologist.
    • Certified Surgical Technologist through NBSTSA preferred; required only if the program is not accredited but currently participating in the accreditation process.
    • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

    Work Environment

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to cold, hot, or wet conditions; fluoroscopic radiation; laser light; surgical smoke; and the risk of bloodborne pathogens. Required personal protection equipment (PPE) includes eye and face protection, impervious gown, shoe covers, head cover, gloves, and lead apron.
