Respiratory Therapist

Job Description:

• Provide respiratory care services in accordance with physician's orders and department policies.
• Complete physician-prescribed respiratory care modalities conscientiously.
• Verify correct and appropriate orders and clarify any discrepancies.
• Gather information for evaluation, recommendations, and treatments.
• Document patient assessments, treatments, and education legibly and completely.
• Instruct patients and provide handouts when appropriate.
• Ensure respiratory equipment is set up correctly and operating properly, notifying lead tech or supervisor of discrepancies.
• Interpret ABG values, communicate them to physicians, and make improvement suggestions.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

• Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Required: Graduate of an AMA-approved school of respiratory care and/or certified or registered by the NBRC.
  • Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in a hospital setting.

• Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Required: Current NYS respiratory therapist or technician license.
  • BLS/CPR certification.
