    Job Description

    • Provide comprehensive management of patients within their given specialty and according to privileges approved by the Medical Staff office.
    • Manage and provide patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members.
    • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
    • Interact with various members of the health care team to meet patient care needs and collaborate with other providers to identify changing patient needs.
    • Identify teaching/learning needs of patients and document patient care services in the electronic health record.
    • Exhibit skill in the management of conflict situations, promote trusting relationships, and demonstrate open and honest communication at the unit level.
    • Participate in performance improvement activities as appropriate and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and excellence among staff.
    • Conduct physical examinations, initiate testing and treatment based on scope of practice, identify normal and abnormal findings, and act upon abnormal findings accordingly.
    • Refer patients to appropriate specialists and/or allied health professionals and provide counseling and instruction regarding common patient problems.
    • Protect patients, visitors, and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, identifying patients using two identifiers (i.e., name and date of birth) prior to providing any treatment or procedure.
    • Consult supervising provider as needed.
    • Provide patient care based on privileges as approved by the Medical Staff office.

    • Physician Assistant, Licensed (Required)
    • Basic Life Support (Required)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
