Family Practice/Primary Care Physician Assistant

Job Description

• Conduct patient assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
• First or second assist in cardiothoracic surgeries, such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repairs/replacements, and lung resections.
• Perform tasks like harvesting saphenous veins for bypass grafts, suturing, and maintaining a sterile field.
• Operate surgical instruments and devices under the supervision of the surgeon.
• Participate in daily rounds with the surgical team, providing updates on patient status.

Requirements

• NC license required; DEA; BLS, ACLS
• Fellowship preferred
• Must be a full-scope practitioner including the ability to work in the OR, rounding, and ICU
• Availability for an average of 2 weekends per month, including 8 onsite hours and first call. Weekend schedule: Friday 7 PM to Monday 7 AM, with ongoing needs of at least two weekends a month up to one week as needed in rotation with existing staff.
