Sitter/Mental Health Technician

The Sitter/Mental Health Technician is responsible for the direct, continuous observation of patients. This role involves intervening as necessary to prevent physical harm to patients who might be at high risk for injuring themselves or others due to confusion, delirium, self-destructive behavior, or a high likelihood of falling. The technician ensures a safe environment, monitors the patients' emotional condition, and collaborates with the healthcare team. The Sitter/MHT works with others in the healthcare team to provide activities of daily living and assure prompt intervention to maintain patients' safety. Those who are Certified Nurse Assistants will provide ADLs, vital signs, and support for mobility.

Job Description

• Responsible for the direct, continuous observation of patients
• Intervene as necessary to prevent physical harm to patients
• Ensure a safe environment and monitor patients' emotional condition
• Collaborate with the healthcare team
• Provide activities of daily living and assure prompt intervention for patient safety

Requirements

• Hospital patient care experience within the last 3 years
• Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association)
• Required: CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant)
• Required: High School diploma or equivalent
