Job Description:
- Plan and implement therapeutic activities for geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients, including arts and crafts, outdoor activities, or sports and movement programs.
- Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team providing services to patients under care for emotional or substance abuse problems.
- Maintain knowledge of occupational health hazards and participate in further training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct group and individual sessions using art therapy, movement therapy, and other mediums.
- Develop and implement activity therapy treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
- Provide individual activity therapy as ordered by the patient's physician.
- Evaluate patient progress and document results.
- Contribute effectively to discharge planning.
- Perform routine clinical and administrative tasks.
- Uphold ethics and customer service standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field with certification in music, art, or recreation therapy.
- One year of experience in a healthcare field with emphasis on activities and/or recreational therapy.
- Current CPR certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment.
- Demonstrated group process, teaching, or training skills.
- Experience in a psychiatric care environment preferred.
- Maintain confidentiality of patients at all times.
- Sensitivity to interact with various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
- Communicate effectively in person or via telephone.
- Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions.
- Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time.
- Lift up to five (5) pounds.
