    Surgical Physician Assistant (PA)

    We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic surgical team. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled, licensed PA who thrives in both the operating room and clinical care environments. This role involves direct assistance in surgery, patient care management, care coordination, and active participation in education and quality improvement initiatives. The Surgical PA will play a vital role in supporting our physicians and enhancing the continuum of patient care across surgical practice clinics and contracted Skilled Nursing Facilities.

    Job Description

    • Serve as a first assist during surgical procedures under physician supervision.
    • Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
    • Develop and implement patient care plans, including pre- and post-operative care.
    • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory studies.
    • Prescribe medications and coordinate referrals to specialists and other services.
    • Provide patient education on treatment plans, preventive care, and recovery.
    • Document findings and progress notes accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
    • Participate in quality initiatives, process improvement, and clinical research.
    • Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as outlined in the PA Practice Agreement.
    • Coordinate care within clinic and Skilled Nursing Facility settings alongside surgeons, APPs, techs, and support staff.

    Requirements

    • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Physician Assistant.
    • Strong commitment to patient care and customer service excellence.
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
    • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

    Preferred Experience

    • At least 3 years of experience in a surgical specialty.
    • Prior experience in vascular care.

    Licensure & Certifications

    • Current California Physician Assistant License (PA - CA DCA).
    • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
    • Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
    • Current DEA license and Controlled Substance Course Certificate.
