Physical Therapist Assistant

Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist.

Job Description

• Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing goals and objectives in a manner that helps others achieve their goals and objectives.
• Records therapy, test procedures, and results as required by hospital and department policy.
• Communicates information to appropriate members of the health care team.
• Able to function independently in outpatient and inpatient care areas.
• Administers physical therapy treatments including physical agents to patients, working under the direction of and as an assistant to a Physical Therapist.
• Administers active and passive therapeutic exercises.
• Observes patients during treatments and compiles data on patients' responses to treatments and progress. Appropriately documents such in the medical record.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree and current Michigan license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association certification.
• One (1) year hospital experience preferred.

Working Conditions

Potentially exposed to infectious diseases.

Physical Requirements

Constantly stand, reach, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear. Frequently sit, walk, lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs. Occasionally lift/carry 25 to 50+ lbs.
