Job Title: Interventional Radiography Specialist
Job Description:
- Safely prepare for and scrub into interventional procedures in collaboration with interventional radiologists and nursing.
- Provide care in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols.
- Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy.
- Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
- Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
- Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol.
- Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
- Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performs notification/remediation as warranted.
- Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment, maintenance, etc.).
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy and adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed.
Requirements:
- Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) OR ARRT registry eligible, registered by the ARRT within 90 days of employment, and temporary state license required.
- Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
- Work in a patient care area, where there may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases or hazardous materials.

- Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.
