    Location: Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Center, Oklahoma City, OK

    Job Description:

    • Provide professional nursing services and coordinate health care services for detention center residents and staff.
    • Work under the direction of the Facility Physician and general supervision of the Chief of Detention Services.
    • Direct all detention center staff involved in providing medical services to residents.
    • Supervise licensed medical personnel, plan and evaluate the medical program, and organize the medical clinic area.
    • Respond to residents' emergency and non-emergency medical needs in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate appointments with outside medical providers as needed.
    • Distribute resident medication as prescribed.
    • Develop a system to obtain and maintain individual health and medical records for residents.
    • Assign and maintain medical information for statistical reporting.
    • Ensure personnel are available to staff the medical clinic and schedule on-call staff for emergencies.
    • Maintain medical reports, records, and files as required for licensing and ACA documentation.
    • Assist in developing and implementing medical policies and procedures.
    • Provide training for detention staff on medication, suicide risk, and current medical issues.
    • Administer physical exams, hepatitis B vaccines, and TB tests for staff.
    • Provide relevant health information to residents.

    Requirements:

    • Licensed Registered Nurse with three (3) years of relevant experience.
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
    • Experience working with young people is preferred.
    • Must ensure a copy of current Oklahoma RN license is on file at all times.
    • Must have a telephone number where employee can be reached.

    Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Understanding of the health care needs of adolescents.
    • Knowledge of the various components of a total health care system.
    • Ability to relate to young people in a professional, positive, and helpful manner.
    • Good organizational skills.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

    • Ability to handle stressful situations.
    • Ability to work independently.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to push/pull with at least twenty (20) pounds of force.
    • Occasionally lift/carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
    • Ability to kneel/bend/crouch as necessary.
    • Ability to read, write, and comprehend administrative tasks.
    • Must have clarity of vision and manual dexterity for equipment operation.
    • Primarily sedentary; approximately 70% sitting and 30% walking/standing.

    Work Environment:

    • The work environment ranges from combative and hostile to calm and peaceful.
