Orthopedic Physician Assistant

The Orthopedic Physician Assistant will perform various functions during the course of any given day. This role includes examining patients, performing comprehensive physical examinations, compiling patient medical data, ordering diagnostic tests such as x-rays and laboratory tests, and interpreting MRI/diagnostic testing. The PA will also perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, casting, suturing, wound care, and managing infections. Additionally, the PA will record progress notes and assist in the provision of continuity of care.

Job Description

• Examine patients and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
• Compile patient medical data and order diagnostic tests.
• Order and interpret MRI/diagnostic testing.
• Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, casting, suturing, and wound care.
• Manage infections and record progress notes.
• Ensure continuity of care.
• Respond to physician requests in the emergency room.
• Assist in surgeries as the first OR assistant.
• Make hospital rounds on weekends under the direction of physicians.
• Conduct office hours with physicians and independently see patients.

Requirements

• Orthopedic experience required.
• Successful graduation from an accredited PA college or university program resulting in a PA certificate.
• Must have a Connecticut state PA license in good standing.
