    Job Description:

    • Perform phlebotomy and laboratory testing
    • Understand the clinical significance of results
    • Monitor and operate laboratory instrumentation
    • Report results accurately and rapidly
    • Follow established organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines

    Qualifications and Education:

    • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field preferred
    • Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent preferred
    • Must be detail-oriented and able to work with minimal supervision
    • Proficient in computer skills
    • Possess professional and effective communication skills

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Establish and maintain strong positive relationships with patients and staff
    • Perform all clinical testing as assigned and report results accurately
    • Perform and interpret quality control testing
    • Maintain a high level of quality assurance
    • Coordinate and evaluate new reagents, procedures, and equipment
    • Perform routine and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment
    • Conduct basic troubleshooting on laboratory analyzers
    • Manage an efficient workstation, ensuring cleanliness and stock
    • Maintain a safe environment following hospital policies
    • Utilize appropriate safety and infection control practices
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding patients and all aspects of care
    • Participate in educational activities, unit meetings, and quality initiatives
    • Maintain skills through competency testing

    Language Skills:

    • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, peers, physicians, and the public
    • Fluent in English

    Physical Demands:

    • Moderate physical effort including standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and stooping
    • Moderate sitting and keyboarding; manual dexterity to operate equipment
    • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
    • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies

    Work Environment:

    • Climate-controlled environment with occasional outdoor periods
