Job Description
- Under immediate to general supervision and direction of a mentor/preceptor, this entry-level position works to achieve the initial competencies required to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to adult and/or pediatric patient populations for the purpose of aiding medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects, and/or diseases.
- Provides safe, high quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centric care and support services under routine or emergent conditions in various care settings, including acute inpatient facilities, outpatient physician practices, diagnostic/urgent care centers, and remote statewide outreach clinics.
- Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with procedures ordered by physicians.
- Communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to identify and implement necessary actions to achieve clinical outcomes, operational goals, and service expectations.
- Utilizes specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and/or surgical procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
- Conducts post-procedure reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed and documented.
- Transfers images and data to appropriate archival systems, enters technical data/findings, and prepares studies for reporting by physicians.
- Performs operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfecting, and other user maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines.
- Participates in continuing education, professional development, and research activities to maintain competencies and promote continuous improvements in care and treatments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities of Level 2
- Operates standard and portable radiology equipment to perform radiographic examinations and fluoroscopy studies.
- Assists physicians and performs specialized imaging procedures.
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems regarding equipment and/or film output.
- Acts as a resource and preceptor for other Radiographers and/or students.
- May participate in training programs to enhance radiology skills.
Additional Responsibilities of Level 3
- Maintains competencies required to perform essential duties of a Level II position.
- Provides safe, high quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centric care under routine or emergent conditions.
- Performs as a shift or team lead for inpatient and/or outpatient duty locations.
- Assists leadership with the development of clinical protocols and performance of image quality reviews.
- Serves as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentor new or less experienced team members.
- Coordinates operator and department-level quality control checks.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Level 1)

Education: Associate's degree or higher preferred. Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited educational program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty. Candidates within 6 weeks of graduation may be considered for employment.

License/Certification: BLS must be current upon hire. Must meet eligibility requirements for ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI in the cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty.
Minimum Qualifications (Level 2)

Education: Associate's degree or higher preferred. Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited educational program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty.

Experience: Preferred one (1) year full-time experience as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technology professional.

Experience: Preferred two (2) years full-time experience as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technology professional.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Skill in applying principles of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.

Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions; must be able to consistently report to work as scheduled.

Ability to be sensitive to patients' physical and psychological needs.

Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.

Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
