    Retail Pharmacist PRN

    Join our team at OU Health Physicians Pharmacy as a Retail Pharmacist PRN. Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager, this position is responsible and accountable for proper compounding, dispensing, reviewing, and verifying prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines.

    Job Description

    • Fills prescriptions by compounding and dispensing medications, following prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists, or other authorized medical practitioners.
    • Prepares medications by weighing, measuring, and mixing drugs and other medicinal compounds, and fills bottles or capsules with the correct quantity and composition of preparation.
    • Ensures that patients understand prescribed instructions and advises them regarding storage for prescription medication.
    • Stores and preserves biologicals, vaccines, serums, and other drugs subject to deterioration, utilizing refrigeration and other methods.
    • Orders and maintains a supply of drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
    • May instruct interns and oversee the work of pharmacy technicians.
    • Maintains records on all prescriptions filled and computes and records charges for billing purposes.
    • Provides information to physicians and other staff members on the availability of new drugs, warnings on currently marketed drugs, and incompatibility of certain drugs.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy degree program (Bachelor of Science or Pharm. D).
    • Must be a licensed Pharmacist by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy or obtain licensure within 90 days of hire.
    • Must possess or be able to obtain an Oklahoma Preceptor's license by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy within one year of hire.
    • BLS certification and Immunization Administration Certificate preferred. If the Pharmacist holds an Immunization Administration Certification, BLS certification will be required.
