Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider - Nocturnist
Location: Northern Black Hills, South Dakota
Located in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota, surrounded by awe-inspiring nature and wildlife, this region offers many natural attractions in Western South Dakota.
Job Description:
- Work through the full continuum of care in Neurosurgery with a primary focus on Neuro Critical Care and Inpatient
- Schedule may be 7 on 7 off nights or a similar block scheduling
- 80% of the primary focus is inpatient with some outpatient responsibilities
- Operating room and first assist requirement; equal to 20% or more time
- Acts as an agent of the supervising physician for delegated medical services within the Advanced Practice Clinician's scope of practice
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients' healthcare problems/needs
- Apply clinical interventions, evaluate outcomes, and implement changes to the care plan
- Anticipate and communicate changes in patient status to meet patient needs
- May have ED/Unassigned call requirement (practice/location specific)
- May share in practice and/or inpatient call requirements
- May perform procedures
- Complete thorough, timely documentation in accordance with facility policy
- Consistently demonstrate appropriate referral and/or transfer of patients to another facility
- Demonstrate a thorough and current knowledge of disease processes
- Conduct comprehensive health history and physical examinations or problem-focused assessments
- Demonstrate appropriate referrals and/or provide referral information to patients and physicians
- Order appropriate tests, procedures, and therapies in collaboration with medical staff
- Perform and document ongoing patient assessment and formulate care plans in collaboration with other medical providers
- Recognize physical, developmental, and psychosocial distress of patients and families, and provide appropriate interventions
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations, basing patient management decisions on individual patient needs
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) - South Dakota Board of Nursing or Physician Assistant (PA) - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners
- 1+ years of Neurosurgery Inpatient Clinical Experience
