    Park Village Pines has provided Senior Assisted Living in Kalamazoo since 1983. In our three buildings, we serve seniors and the elderly who have few or basic care needs as well as those who require specialized or memory loss care. We also offer independent living.

    Job Description:

    • Provide assistance with the activities of daily living, a safe environment, physical comfort, and emotional and social support to residents.
    • This position is every other weekend + may pick up additional shifts, if available.
    • Provide personal care to residents including bathing/showering, oral hygiene, hair grooming, skin and nail care, toileting, dressing and undressing, and shaving.
    • Answer call lights to determine and meet resident's needs.
    • Adhere to HIPAA regulations/including not discussing residents' circumstances with other departments.
    • Collect food trays from residents' rooms.
    • Transport/transfer residents using wheelchairs, walkers, cane, stand-by assist, hoyers, etc.
    • Change bed linens/make the bed if needed.
    • Encourage/assist residents in keeping their rooms clean and orderly.
    • Be aware of resident's needs and respond accordingly.
    • Respond rapidly and appropriately to emergencies - including resident and co-worker safety.
    • Observe and report changes in skin condition, appetite, behavior, emotional needs, etc. of residents to proper staff members.
    • Maintain clean work areas.
    • Project a positive image in dealing with residents, co-workers, families, and the public.
    • Use appropriate and safe body mechanics when lifting and/or transferring residents.
    • Use good hand washing techniques and follow infectious control policies.
    • Complete daily computer/paperwork as required.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management as required.

    Requirements:

    • Previous related experience OR strong desire to learn to work with the elder population.
    • Ability to work every other weekend, as well as holidays as needed.
    • Ability to communicate well with people.
    • Maintain neat, well-groomed appearance according to Park Village Pines' dress code.
    • Ability to treat all people with dignity and respect at all times.
    • Passion to work with the elderly in a caregiving role.
    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

    Essential Physical Requirements:

    • Lift and carry light objects such as resident charts, thermometers, basins, and resident care items without assistance.
    • Lift, push/pull 75 lbs.+, assisting residents to/from/in their rooms.
    • Stand or walk up to 90% of an eight-hour shift.
    • Lift, twist, bend, reach on a regular basis.

    Compensation:

    • $15-16 Hourly Wage
