Job Description:
- Lead the hospital veterinary team in providing excellent veterinary care to Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients.
- Represent the mission and commitments to all clients, veterinarians, and hospital and store partners.
- Ensure the patient's needs always come first.
- Foster a team environment where every member understands their role in creating an exceptional customer and patient experience.
- Address and resolve contentious issues as they occur or as soon as possible.
- Promote exceptional teamwork and commitment to shared goals.
Essential Job Functions:

Leadership/Management Duties:
- Lead the hospital veterinarian team.
- Collaborate with the Hospital Office Manager for cohesive leadership.
- Mentor and coach hospital veterinarians to enhance clinical skills and client communication.
- Ensure compliance with Petco Medical SOPs and applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct veterinarian candidate interviewing and onboarding.
- Monitor hospital performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage hospital electronic medical records to elevate patient care.
- Address client concerns swiftly.

Clinical Care Duties:
- Provide excellent patient care through examinations, diagnoses, and treatments.
- Perform routine and complex surgical and dental procedures.
- Develop and communicate treatment plans for hospitalized patients.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in rounds at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Disseminate knowledge to improve patient and client care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- 1-3 years minimum of clinical veterinary experience.
- Active licensure as a veterinarian or ability to obtain by start date.
- Current DEA and Controlled Substance License.
- Strong skills in anesthesia and routine surgeries.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Compassionate and professional demeanor.
- Proficiency in telephone and computer skills.
