    Job Description:

    • Lead the hospital veterinary team in providing excellent veterinary care to Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients.
    • Represent the mission and commitments to all clients, veterinarians, and hospital and store partners.
    • Ensure the patient's needs always come first.
    • Foster a team environment where every member understands their role in creating an exceptional customer and patient experience.
    • Address and resolve contentious issues as they occur or as soon as possible.
    • Promote exceptional teamwork and commitment to shared goals.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Leadership/Management Duties:

      • Lead the hospital veterinarian team.
      • Collaborate with the Hospital Office Manager for cohesive leadership.
      • Mentor and coach hospital veterinarians to enhance clinical skills and client communication.
      • Ensure compliance with Petco Medical SOPs and applicable laws and regulations.
      • Conduct veterinarian candidate interviewing and onboarding.
      • Monitor hospital performance and identify areas for improvement.
      • Manage hospital electronic medical records to elevate patient care.
      • Address client concerns swiftly.
    • Clinical Care Duties:

      • Provide excellent patient care through examinations, diagnoses, and treatments.
      • Perform routine and complex surgical and dental procedures.
      • Develop and communicate treatment plans for hospitalized patients.

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Participate in rounds at the beginning and end of shifts.
    • Disseminate knowledge to improve patient and client care.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
    • 1-3 years minimum of clinical veterinary experience.
    • Active licensure as a veterinarian or ability to obtain by start date.
    • Current DEA and Controlled Substance License.
    • Strong skills in anesthesia and routine surgeries.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Compassionate and professional demeanor.
    • Proficiency in telephone and computer skills.
