Mammography Technologist

Mammography Technologists operate a mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under the direction of a physician.

Job Description

• Explain the mammography procedure to patients
• Position and immobilize the patient's breast in the unit
• Observe the scanning process
• Monitor the video display of the area being scanned and adjust the density or contrast to improve picture quality
• Review and evaluate the film or image recording plate to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes
• Use radiation safety measures and protection devices
• Comply with government regulations
• Ensure the safety of patients and staff

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience
• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Active R.T.(R)(M) certification or equivalent
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• 1-2 years Mammography experience preferred
