Medical Assistant
The Uintah and Ouray Health Clinic, part of the Indian Health Service, is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant with experience in Medical Billing to join our team as a long-term contractor. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment. This includes managing patient billing, payments, and insurance claims for our Family Medical Clinic. This is a long-term contract position with great pay, paid holidays, and benefits.
Job Description
- Family Health Clinic, Medical Biller/Medical Assistant
- Up to a 1-year contract, with extension option
- Full-time hours, 8-hour day shifts
- Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
- 11 paid Federal Holidays, Health Insurance options
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
- Medical Billing and CMA Certification preferred
- Onsite
- Previous IHS experience preferred
- Adult and Pediatric
- Local contractors are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
- Create invoices for medical procedures
- Submit insurance claims
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Communicate with patients and insurance companies to resolve billing issues
- Perform Medical Assistant duties and basic medical procedures under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- 2-3 years of experience in a medical office environment
- 2 years of Medical Billing & Medical Assistant experience needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Certified/licensed Medical Assistant Certificate preferred
- Degree or diploma programs in medical billing and coding preferred
- Current certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Certifications and licenses must be active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent computer and organizational skills required
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be willing to submit to a federal background check
