    Medical Assistant

    The Uintah and Ouray Health Clinic, part of the Indian Health Service, is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant with experience in Medical Billing to join our team as a long-term contractor. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment. This includes managing patient billing, payments, and insurance claims for our Family Medical Clinic. This is a long-term contract position with great pay, paid holidays, and benefits.

    Job Description

    • Family Health Clinic, Medical Biller/Medical Assistant
    • Up to a 1-year contract, with extension option
    • Full-time hours, 8-hour day shifts
    • Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
    • 11 paid Federal Holidays, Health Insurance options
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
    • Medical Billing and CMA Certification preferred
    • Onsite
    • Previous IHS experience preferred
    • Adult and Pediatric

    Responsibilities

    • Create invoices for medical procedures
    • Submit insurance claims
    • Follow up on unpaid claims and denials
    • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
    • Maintain accurate patient records
    • Communicate with patients and insurance companies to resolve billing issues
    • Perform Medical Assistant duties and basic medical procedures under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider

    Requirements

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • 2-3 years of experience in a medical office environment
    • 2 years of Medical Billing & Medical Assistant experience needed
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
    • Certified/licensed Medical Assistant Certificate preferred
    • Degree or diploma programs in medical billing and coding preferred
    • Current certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • Certifications and licenses must be active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Excellent computer and organizational skills required
    • Must be a US Citizen
    • Must be willing to submit to a federal background check
