Contract Pharmacist
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and knowledgeable Contract Pharmacist to join the healthcare team at Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center in Sisseton, SD. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients. This position requires a strong foundation in clinical pharmacy practices, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient care. As a Pharmacist, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy and improve patient outcomes.
Job Description
- Flexible long-term contract, with extension possibilities
- Pharmacy hours: Monday through Friday & Holidays: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
- Rotating weekends and holidays
- Day shift
- Review and interpret physician orders to ensure appropriate medication therapy
- Dispense medications accurately and provide clear instructions to patients regarding their use
- Conduct patient assessments to monitor medication efficacy and safety
- Manage inventory levels of pharmaceuticals, ensuring proper storage and handling
- Provide consultations on pain management strategies and medication-related issues
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy software systems
- Adhere to aseptic techniques when preparing sterile medications
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in hospital settings, including pediatrics, to deliver optimal patient care
Requirements
- Be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy program/school
- State licensed in pharmacy within the United States
- Previous contract experience a plus
- Previous IHS facility experience helpful
- 2+ years of experience required
- Can work on any state license
- Must be willing and able to pass Federal Security Clearance pre-hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must meet all credentialing and background investigation requirements
Skills
- Strong background in clinical pharmacy practices
- Proficient in using pharmacy software for medication management and documentation
- Knowledgeable in pain management protocols and patient assessment techniques
- Familiarity with inventory management processes to ensure adequate stock levels of medications
- Understanding of medical terminology relevant to pharmaceutical care
- Experience working within hospital environments, particularly in pediatrics, is advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals
