Physical Therapist
As a Physical Therapist and movement expert, you'll have the opportunity to improve patient quality of life through hands-on care, patient education, and prescribed movement. Our inpatient rehabilitation teams are collaborative and patient-focused. You'll work together with Physical Therapy Assistants to treat patients of all ages and abilities.
Job Description
- Requires detailed knowledge of physical therapy in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done, this level includes interpretation of data.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific setting.
- Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical function and developmental disorders.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served.
- Oversees and insures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and immediate environmental well-being of the patient.
- Promotes patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
- Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
- Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
- Is a patient advocate.
- Other duties as assigned.
- For Pediatric Physical Therapist, the following also apply:
- Evaluate and treat infants, children, and adolescents for various health conditions, addressing motor development, strength, range of motion, endurance, balance, coordination, gait, etc.
- Interviewing children and family members, using physical examination to diagnose movement disorder.
- Ability to evaluate and treat patients from 18 years old and older.
- Float to adult units if needed if pediatric patient census fluctuates.
- Evaluates and treats pediatric patients from birth to 18 years old regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical function and developmental disorders.
- Settings include inpatient and inpatient emergency department.
Requirements
- Less than one year of experience in physical therapy. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred.
- NM License of Physical Therapy required.
- BLS required at time of hire.
