    Emergency Department Paramedic

Located in Clovis, NM, this part-time position offers a unique opportunity to perform advanced patient care within the emergency department setting.

    Job Description

    • Perform advanced patient care within the state-approved scope of practice in the emergency department.
    • Receive emergency medical telephone calls and provide emergency care to injured or ill patients.
    • Participate in the provision of patient care based on setting and acuity of patient care needs.
    • Ensure a safe, comfortable, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
    • Organize care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team.
    • Assist in cleaning and maintaining emergency supplies and equipment.
    • Monitor patients and maintain records using patient monitoring systems and electronic health records.
    • Document and maintain an informative and accurate medical record to initiate charges for each patient treated.
    • Maintain proper functioning systems and report malfunctions immediately per PHS procedure.
    • Document and report any pertinent changes to the Nurse, Charge Nurse, and Provider.
    • Provide patient report to other staff as necessary.
    • Communicate and process necessary paperwork/information for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
    • Participate in unit-based activities and assist with the implementation of changes as recommended by councils.
    • Observe patient cardiac monitors and maintain records, documenting any pertinent rate or rhythm changes, especially life-threatening dysrhythmias.
    • Notify the Nurse immediately of any death-producing arrhythmias and document findings.
    • Ensure equal distribution of arriving patients by team in the ED.
    • Maintain accurate, legible dispatch records for the department.
    • Make transfer arrangements with appropriate EMS transport agency for ED patients needing to be transferred.
    • Direct responding ambulance crews to the appropriate area of the ED for patient transfer.
    • Maintain positive communications and collaboration with EMS service line, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.

    Requirements

    • High School diploma or GED required; previous EMS Dispatch experience preferred.
    • 2 years of ED patient care experience including triage experience preferred.
    • National EMT-Paramedic License required.
    • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions is required.
    • 2-5 years of experience as a paramedic preferred.
