Mammography Technologist
Join our team as a Mammography Technologist, where you will play a vital role in performing screening and diagnostic mammography procedures. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment while ensuring patient confidentiality and care.
Job Description
- Perform a variety of technical activities associated with screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
- Respond to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information.
- Operate mammographic equipment and position patients for scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
- Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and obtain additional images as needed.
- Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques.
- Print film or burn CDs for interpretation and match with appropriate paperwork.
- Provide orientation and education to new and student mammographers.
- Monitor patients' well-being during exams and recognize discomfort or medical problems.
- Use ALARA concept to minimize patient radiation doses and document any over-exposure.
- Ensure accuracy of information and data entry while maintaining patient privacy.
- Consult with radiologists when necessary to determine appropriate exams.
- Assist radiologists with stereotactic breast biopsies and other interventional procedures if needed.
- Keep exam rooms clean and properly stocked with supplies.
- Communicate delays or changes in the schedule to the appropriate personnel.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly quality control testing related to mammography.
- Guide patients through the exam process, addressing their questions and concerns.
- May fulfill the role of Travel Mammography Technologist, traveling to multiple locations regularly.
Requirements
- Must have current ARRT(R) certification and state licenses in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology and Mammographic Radiologic Technology.
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- BLS certification is required (Basic Life Support Certification).
- Ability to relate to the public in a professional manner, regardless of background.
- Familiarity with specialized equipment and ability to respond to emergency situations calmly.
- Excellent customer service skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and medical knowledge.
- Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to interact effectively with various stakeholders.

Physical Demands
This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling or palpating, speaking, listening, and high-level cognition. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds occasionally.
Working Environment
Technologists work in an outpatient medical office setting with low to moderate noise levels. May also work on the mobile mammography coach.
Pay Range
USD $50.00 - USD $70.00 per hour

Midday Shift Variations: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
