General Surgery Locum Opportunity

A facility in Cañon City, CO is seeking General Surgery locum coverage following the resignation of an internal physician. This role offers 24-hour call coverage in a Level IV trauma setting with an opportunity for ongoing work beginning June 2026.

Job Description

• Coverage Details:

  • January 14 (7:00 AM) - January 20 (7:00 AM)
  • Ongoing dates beginning June 2026 (when schedules are released)
  • Schedule: 24-hour call coverage (7:00 AM - 7:00 AM)
  • Days per month: 6-10 total days for all locum providers

• Practice Setting & Duties:

  • Inpatient setting
  • Trauma Level IV
  • ED call coverage
  • Required procedures: Bread-and-butter General Surgery
  • Potential for emergent endoscopy
  • Support staff: None
  • EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Board Certified in General Surgery - required
• Active Colorado license or IMLC (LOQ in hand at time of submission) - required
• Active ATLS - required at presentation
• Active BLS - required for credentialing
• Active DEA - required for credentialing
  • Site will consider a transferred DEA; provider must maintain this DEA for the duration of the assignment
• Minimum of 2 years' experience - required
• Must indicate ability to perform endoscopies - required
• Must acknowledge and complete EMR training requirements in the specified order - required
• Candidates must be available for at least one listed open date to be considered for ongoing coverage
• Clean malpractice and background - required
