Job Description
- Provide quality pharmaceutical care, protocol implementation, and drug distribution for patients with cancer on our inpatient oncology unit and outpatient infusion center.
- Ensure that medications are dispensed in a timely, accurate, safe, and cost-effective manner with the assistance of the technical staff.
- Monitor drug therapy in various areas including parenteral nutrition, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dosing, and IV to oral medication conversion.
- Recommend appropriate drug therapy to the physician and monitor therapy for desired outcomes per protocol.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and nursing staff regarding drug therapies.
- Maintain, update, and monitor each patient's medication profile; ensure timely and accurate processing of all patient charges.
- Assist in the training of pharmacists, technicians, interns, and students; supervise pharmacy interns, students, and technicians for accuracy and adherence to policy.
- Serve as a resource to management with respect to quality initiatives participation and provide information to improve and enhance services.
- Work varying shifts and days to meet the needs of the Department of Pharmacy which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Requirements
- Completion of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE accredited pharmacy program or 10 years of experience in acute care pharmacy is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Pharmacist license.
- Healthcare BLS within the first 90 days of employment is required for all locations. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first 90 days of employment is required for specific locations.
- Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies.
