    Director of Nursing

    This position plans, directs, and coordinates health services for all assigned service sites. Provides oversight and direction for clinical services, and health and wellness for all clients in the assigned area of responsibility. Responsible for supervising all nursing personnel and ensuring care and services are coordinated with behavioral and programmatic staff in partnership with the Executive Director. The Director of Nursing is accountable for overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations to ensure quality of care and services, regulatory compliance, support of business development and growth, achievement of key performance indicators, management of nursing performance, and staff development.

    Job Description

    • Oversees and directs the selection and hiring of clinical staff. Conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions. Ensures staff competency and performance.
    • Conducts/participates in quarterly quality improvement meetings, reviews pertinent available data, identifies trends, and oversees the implementation of improvement plans relating to health services.
    • Collaborates with the Executive Director in the implementation of quality improvement activities and corrective action plans.
    • Actively participates in weekly team/staff meetings.
    • Participates in the Interdisciplinary team (IDT/PDP) meetings.
    • Chairs committees as applicable (e.g., safety, infection control, incident/accident review, human rights, etc.).
    • Participates in the development of the person served support plan, ensuring collaboration between nursing, behavioral, and programmatic team members.
    • Provides training as indicated for staff including but not limited to medication administration, signs and symptoms of illness, corrective action plans, clinical processes, etc.
    • Responsible for ensuring delegated clinical tasks are completed appropriately, and that delegates receive applicable training, supervision, and routine performance reviews.
    • Responsible for ensuring that there is a nurse on call after hours for all homes (and participates in on-call rotation).
    • Ensures direct, on-site supervision for all staff at least annually.
    • Facilitates communication and serves as a liaison between and among nursing staff, nursing and direct care staff, the work site, community medical providers, professional consultants, and direct care in coordination with Operations management.
    • Provides feedback to Operations management regarding necessary changes and revisions.
    • Ensures assigned staff are evaluated fairly and timely in accordance with ResCare performance evaluation procedures.
    • Accountable to ensure all clinical staff appropriately and successfully complete orientation and all required in-services.
    • Coordinates and oversees all activities associated with medical contract providers.
    • Attends/completes all manager training as applicable.
    • Ensures on-call nursing coverage to ensure weekend and after-hours access to clinicians by staff and individuals served (participates in on-call rotation as needed).
    • Assists operations management team in fostering positive community relations with external customers as needed.
    • Responsible for the oversight of and response to external and internal surveys and audits within assigned area relating to health services and in collaboration with operations leadership.
    • Responsible for ensuring that mortality reviews are completed within five days of death and submitted to State Health Services Director and Assigned Director, Clinical Practice.
    • Reviews utilization report at least monthly to ensure adequate hours on client plans and increases or decreases as needed to ensure client needs are met.
    • Ensures nursing services are delivered according to authorizations and plan of care.
    • Monitors due dates for nursing assessments and ensures timely completion.
    • Ensures all medication and service authorizations are obtained timely.
    • Provides direct nursing care as needed.

    Requirements

    • Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
    • Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State.
    • Must have no less than 2 years nursing experience, and at least 1 year in a related management/supervisory role.
    • Experience in providing services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities or related disorders preferred.
    • CPR certification.
    • Valid driver's license, with a satisfactory driving record, as defined by ResCare's vehicle policy.
    • Must meet all agency requirements for pre-employment as required by ResCare and/or State regulations.
    • Must have the ability to use a computer utilizing company documentation systems.
    • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
    • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information.
    • Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements.
    • Maintains certification in any/all state-required clinical certifications (e.g., Medication Delegation instructor).

    Salary Range

    USD $72,800.00 / Year
