Job Description:
- Ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained while providing therapy services to patients.
- Supervise therapy assistants in the performance of therapy services in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
- Provide physical therapy services according to a physician's written plan of care, including:
- Assessing and evaluating therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status and participating in the development of the total plan of care.
- Assessing muscle strength, mobility, gait, and range of motion (ROM).
- Directing physical therapy treatment.
- Instructing patients and families/caregivers in the use and care of therapeutic appliances.
- Determining priority needs for physical therapy.
- Reporting patient's reaction to treatment or changes in condition to the physician.
- Initiating physical therapy and instructing other personnel and/or family/caregiver members in certain phases of physical therapy.
- Preparing and submitting clinical and progress summaries based on the attainment of goals.
- Participating in discharge planning for patients.
- Maintaining contact/communication with other personnel involved in the patient's care to promote coordinated, efficient care.
- Attending in-services, case conferences, and other meetings as required to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care plans.
- Identifying patient and family/caregiver needs and referring as appropriate.
- Instructing patient's family/caregiver and other personnel in patient's treatment regime when indicated and appropriate.
- Supervising physical therapy assistants according to company policy and state regulations.
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Degree from a baccalaureate or Master's program in physical therapy accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Valid and current license to practice physical therapy in the state employed.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience as a physical therapist.
- Good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
- Familiarity with the general use and functions of computers, including the use of internet and email.
- Licensed driver with an insured automobile in accordance with state/organization requirements.
- Capable of performing the job functions of this position with or without accommodation.
- Active AHA (American Heart Association) CPR certification is required if applying for an Outpatient position.
