Physical Therapist

Job Description:

• Ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained while providing therapy services to patients.
• Supervise therapy assistants in the performance of therapy services in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
• Provide physical therapy services according to a physician's written plan of care, including:
  • Assessing and evaluating therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status and participating in the development of the total plan of care.
  • Assessing muscle strength, mobility, gait, and range of motion (ROM).
  • Directing physical therapy treatment.
  • Instructing patients and families/caregivers in the use and care of therapeutic appliances.
  • Determining priority needs for physical therapy.
  • Reporting patient's reaction to treatment or changes in condition to the physician.
  • Initiating physical therapy and instructing other personnel and/or family/caregiver members in certain phases of physical therapy.
  • Preparing and submitting clinical and progress summaries based on the attainment of goals.
  • Participating in discharge planning for patients.
  • Maintaining contact/communication with other personnel involved in the patient's care to promote coordinated, efficient care.
  • Attending in-services, case conferences, and other meetings as required to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care plans.
  • Identifying patient and family/caregiver needs and referring as appropriate.
  • Instructing patient's family/caregiver and other personnel in patient's treatment regime when indicated and appropriate.
  • Supervising physical therapy assistants according to company policy and state regulations.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Degree from a baccalaureate or Master's program in physical therapy accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Valid and current license to practice physical therapy in the state employed.
• Two (2) years of clinical experience as a physical therapist.
• Good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
• Familiarity with the general use and functions of computers, including the use of internet and email.
• Licensed driver with an insured automobile in accordance with state/organization requirements.
• Capable of performing the job functions of this position with or without accommodation.
• Active AHA (American Heart Association) CPR certification is required if applying for an Outpatient position.
