Job Title: Physical Therapist
Job Description:
- Ensure the highest degree of quality care while providing therapy services to patients.
- Supervise therapy assistant(s) in the performance of therapy services in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and regulations.
- Provide physical therapy services according to a physician's written plan of care, including assessing therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status and developing the total plan of care.
- Assess muscle strength, mobility, gait, and range of motion (ROM).
- Direct physical therapy treatment and instruct patients and families/caregivers in the use and care of therapeutic appliances.
- Determine priority needs for physical therapy and report patient's reaction to treatment or changes in condition to the physician.
- Initiate physical therapy and instruct other personnel and/or family/caregiver members in phases of physical therapy.
- Train in the use of prosthetic devices.
- Prepare and submit clinical and progress summaries based on the attainment of goals.
- Participate in discharge planning for patients.
- Maintain communication with other personnel involved in the patient's care to promote coordinated, efficient care.
- Attend and contribute to in-services, case conferences, and other meetings to ensure coordinated plans of care for patients.
- Identify patient and family/caregiver needs and refer as appropriate.
- Instruct patient's family/caregiver and other personnel in the treatment regime when appropriate.
- Supervise physical therapy assistants according to company policy and state regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements:
- Possess a degree from a baccalaureate or Master's program in physical therapy accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Hold a valid and current license to practice physical therapy in the state employed.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience as a physical therapist.
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
- Familiarity with general use and functions of computers, including starting programs, using files, apps, and navigating screens. Experience with Apple iPads and iPods is a plus.
- Licensed driver with an automobile insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and in good working order. Some travel may be required.
- Capable of performing the job functions with or without accommodation.
- Active AHA CPR certification required if applying for an Outpatient position.
