    Job Description

    • Render professional nursing care to a group of assigned patients within the hospital.
    • Collaborate with the medical staff and other members of the healthcare team to provide quality patient care.
    • Perform all activities in accordance with approved policies and guides.
    • Supervise and delegate appropriate duties to ancillary personnel.
    • Complete initial and ongoing assessments, including physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, age-appropriate, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
    • Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
    • Document patient care given.
    • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
    • Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
    • Collaborate as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
    • Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
    • Work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

    Requirements

    • Current Registered Nurse to practice/work in the state of NC.
    • Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
    • 1-3 years preferred and recent acute care experience within the past 3 years preferred.
    • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to respond to and perform in emergent situations.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
    • Handle with Care training to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.
