    MRI Technologist

    Join our team as an MRI Technologist in a part-time weekend shift role. This position involves working Saturday and Sunday for 10 hours a day, with a weekend differential applied for imaging outpatients and inpatients.

    Job Description

    • Review patient's charts/requisitions and results from previous procedures, record patients' medical information, and explain the procedure to be performed on the patient using layman's terms, care, courtesy, and tact.
    • Review requests for MRI procedures, patient history, preparation recommendations, and department guidelines to determine appropriate diagnostic images, anatomical regions to be examined, procedures, and protocols to be followed. Interact with radiologists and referring physicians to ensure that the correct procedure is done.
    • Adjust, manipulate, and control computerized and digital imaging equipment and accessories, demonstrating and applying knowledge of techniques, procedures, protocols, and total body anatomy to provide studies for interpretation.
    • Screen patients for safety when receiving IV contrast in accordance with policy. Administer injections of contrast media for examinations following established sterile techniques and methods. Be trained to identify and monitor patients for adverse reactions to contrast media.
    • Appropriately screen each patient for metal hazards to reduce potential injury when exposed to high-strength magnetic fields. Monitor the MRI environment to ensure the area is secure and restricted to screened patients and personnel only.
    • Operate various peripheral equipment, including but not limited to cardiac monitors, power injectors, metal detection units, pulse oximetry, PACS, and EMR systems.
    • Communicate skillfully and tactfully in all situations. Inform patients concerning delays and explain the exams in lay terminology. Complete histories for the radiologist and communicate with referring physicians concerning the exams.
    • In accordance with unit or departmental practice, determine that appropriate charges have been entered for the correct patient, encounter, date/time of service, with any required modifiers. Make corrections as needed per charge capture policy/practice.

    Requirements

    • Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program preferred.
    • Advanced certification in MRI by ARRT or ARMRIT; OR MRI Registry-eligible with certification within 12 months of hire.
    • Maintain Continuing Education credits (24 CEU in two years) and other requirements to maintain ARRT certification.
    • Indiana Radiologic Technologist license. Healthcare BLS certification. Indiana MRI Technologist license preferred.
    • 1 year of current or recent experience in MRI scanning preferred.
