Job Description:
- Perform diagnostic interpretation of surgical pathology, hematopathology, and/or cytology material and electronic release of cases.
- Participate in laboratory quality control and quality assurance.
- Provide consultation to clients regarding significance of pathology findings, guidance on utilization of laboratory technologies to aid in diagnosis and treatment, and provide client follow-up.
- Provide medical guidance to laboratory staff to address technical issues in the laboratory.
- Work closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure the highest standards of TAT, quality, and customer service are maintained.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Medical Director.
Requirements:
- M.D. or D.O Degree.
- Unrestricted Texas medical license or eligible for Texas medical licensure.
- Board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
- Experience in surgical pathology.
- Experience in hematopathology desired but not required.

Baylor Pathology has the contract at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center, a 320-bed regional medical center in Longview, Texas. The position includes a mix of surgical pathology cases, non-gyn cytology, and some hematopathology, mostly peripheral smear reviews. Much of the hematopathology is currently sent to Baylor in Houston. Last year, the volume was 13,503 surgical and 1075 non-gyn cytology cases, along with the usual clinical pathology work.

CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center is part of the CHRISTUS Health Northeast Texas group and consists of two institutions in Longview and Marshall. The medical center offers 351 beds, 20 ORs, a NICU, a level III trauma emergency department, and a recently opened Heart and Vascular Institute. It includes an outpatient surgery center in Longview with an additional 8 ORs and a large endoscopy section.
