    Clinical Nurse Specialist

    Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our team! Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

    Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is one of just five Level 1 trauma centers in Virginia, home to the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and the region's first Magnet hospital and nationally ranked heart program at the Sentara Heart Hospital. The hospital sits on the Eastern Virginia Medical Campus, which serves as the primary teaching institution. Sentara Norfolk General and the Heart Hospital offer transplant services: heart, kidney, and pancreas. We are a certified stroke center and the only Level 3 epilepsy center in the area.

    Job Description

    • The Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates advanced and specialized clinical knowledge to facilitate the provision of patient/family-focused care to promote health and/or well-being and improve quality of life.
    • Drive practice changes throughout the organization and ensure the use of evidence-based care to improve patient outcomes.
    • Provide expertise and support either directly or indirectly by influencing patients/families, nurses/nursing practice, and organization/systems through direct care, leadership, coaching, research, ethical decision making, collaboration, and consultation.

    Requirements

    • Master's degree required.
    • 2 years + of nursing experience, with recent experience in a hospital setting required.
    • Experience with adult population required.
    • RN license in Virginia or compact/multi-state eligible.
    • Must be certified in specialty area deemed eligible for CNS as recognized by State Boards of Nursing.
    • CNS registration with Virginia or North Carolina Board of Nursing required.
    • BLS required.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for Intermediate Care and Critical Care.
