Job Description:
- Responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing, and administering of physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician.
- Administers treatments and physical agents to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability.
- Assists patients to reach maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within their capabilities.
Essential Functions:
- Reviews patient medical record and physician prescription to determine required treatment.
- Plans and administers medically prescribed treatments with the goal of restoring function, relieving pain, and preventing disability.
- Performs a complete patient assessment.
- Develops or revises treatment programs accordingly.
- Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain patient's function.
- Operates treatment devices in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and SVH policies and procedures.
- Instructs and assists patients in performance of various physical activities and use of supportive devices.
- Evaluates patient response and performs follow-up as required.
- Documents patient treatment, response, and progress in medical records accurately and timely.
- Admits, discharges, and transfers patients per established policies and procedures.
- Directs work activities of Physical Therapy Assistant.
- Coordinates patient care with appropriate services.
- Identifies and acts appropriately in code situations per established protocols.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
- New graduates may apply.
- Must maintain education hours as required by applicable regulatory agencies.
License/Certification:
- Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of Washington.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification required.
Experience/Training:
- Internship experience in an acute care hospital is preferred for new graduates.
