    Job Description:

    • Responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing, and administering of physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician.
    • Administers treatments and physical agents to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability.
    • Assists patients to reach maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within their capabilities.

    Essential Functions:

    • Reviews patient medical record and physician prescription to determine required treatment.
    • Plans and administers medically prescribed treatments with the goal of restoring function, relieving pain, and preventing disability.
    • Performs a complete patient assessment.
    • Develops or revises treatment programs accordingly.
    • Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain patient's function.
    • Operates treatment devices in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and SVH policies and procedures.
    • Instructs and assists patients in performance of various physical activities and use of supportive devices.
    • Evaluates patient response and performs follow-up as required.
    • Documents patient treatment, response, and progress in medical records accurately and timely.
    • Admits, discharges, and transfers patients per established policies and procedures.
    • Directs work activities of Physical Therapy Assistant.
    • Coordinates patient care with appropriate services.
    • Identifies and acts appropriately in code situations per established protocols.

    Education:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
    • New graduates may apply.
    • Must maintain education hours as required by applicable regulatory agencies.

    License/Certification:

    • Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of Washington.
    • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification required.

    Experience/Training:

    • Internship experience in an acute care hospital is preferred for new graduates.
