Nurse Resident
Join our team at Skagit Valley Hospital as a Nurse Resident. This position offers a unique opportunity for new nurses to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment while providing direct patient care.
Job Description
- Responsible for direct care of a limited number of patients under the direction of a preceptor.
- Gradually increase direct patient care assignments as competency is demonstrated.
- Assess patients by collecting and documenting their current health status and medical history.
- Plan and implement nursing actions based on patient needs and formulate a plan of care.
- Perform ongoing assessments and revise plans of care based on new data and patient conditions.
- Communicate with physicians regarding patient needs and nursing assessments.
- Collaborate with other nurses and health team members to ensure patient wellbeing.
- Teach patients and significant others appropriate health information in a timely manner.
- Administer medications and IVs according to policy and procedure.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure equipment is maintained safely.
Requirements
- RN required.
- Washington State RN License required.
- AHA (American Heart Association) Health Care Provider BLS required.
- Clinical experience after graduation must be less than six months (1,040 paid hours) or returning to practice with no current clinical training or experience.
Benefits
- Base wage: $40.54 to $73.92 per hour.
- Sign-on bonus: $15,000.00.

- Eligible employees receive sick time pay.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
