Job Description
- Responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Effectively interact with patients, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
- Assess the patient; collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history.
- Complete and/or review Admission Data Record as defined by policy.
- Make accurate and ongoing assessments of the patient's status and respond appropriately.
- Set priorities for nursing action in a logical sequence according to the patient's needs and formulate a plan of care by the appropriate selection of Nurse Practice Standards.
- Perform ongoing assessments and revise the plan of care based on new data and the patient's condition.
- Document accurate and ongoing assessments of patient status to ensure patient safety and charge capture.
- Communicate with the physician regarding patient needs, nursing assessments, and recommendations on a daily basis, and as needed.
- Collaborate with other nurses and health team members to ensure the patient's well-being.
- Teach patients/significant others appropriate health information in a timely manner and share written and visual informational material.
- Perform direct patient care, utilizing established policies, procedures, and standards.
- Administer medications and IVs according to policy and procedure.
- Observe and document the patient's response to pertinent medications.
- Provide a thorough, concise report at change of shift.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff according to policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Current Washington State RN License required.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of nursing practice and medical and pediatric nursing.
- Registered nurse with a minimum of two years experience in acute care and pediatric nursing preferred. Experience may be substituted by completion of the SRH Nurse Residency Program.
- Current AHA (American Heart Association) Health Care BLS Provider required.
- ECG class required within the first 12 months of hire, and maintain competency annually.
Benefits
- Base wage: $40.54 to $73.92 per hour.
- Sign-on bonus: $5,000.00.
- Comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 457b/401a (retirement), long-term disability, and paid time off for employees holding an FTE of 20 or more hours per week.
- Eligible employees also receive sick time pay.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
