    Physician Assistant (PA)

    Our client, a nationally renowned academic medical center and integrated healthcare delivery system, is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join their dynamic Plastic Surgery team. This is a unique opportunity to work within a high-volume outpatient practice that offers a full spectrum of reconstructive and cosmetic procedures, serving a diverse and often underserved patient population. This position offers a balanced mix of surgical and clinical responsibilities, with a strong focus on outpatient care. The PA will be involved in both pre- and post-operative patient management and will assist in a wide variety of procedures. The role includes at least one dedicated OR day per week, with the potential for a second, depending on surgical volume and staffing. Most OR time will involve second assist responsibilities, as residents typically serve as first assist.

    Job Description

    • Provide direct patient care in a busy outpatient plastic surgery clinic
    • Assist in the operating room (minimum one day/week) across a range of plastic and reconstructive procedures
    • Conduct post-operative follow-ups, wound care, and procedural consults
    • Collaborate closely with attending surgeons, residents, and the broader care team
    • Document clinical encounters, order labs/imaging, and manage ongoing treatment plans
    • Participate in inpatient consult coverage on a limited basis (1-2 times/year)

    Clinical Scope

    The PA will have exposure to a broad variety of plastic surgery cases, including:

    • Abdominal reconstruction and body contouring
    • Breast reconstruction and reduction
    • Head and neck surgeries
    • Aesthetic and cosmetic procedures
    • Hand surgery (in collaboration with a dedicated hand surgeon)
    • Minor excisions and "lumps and bumps"
    • Medicare/Medicaid patient base with a wide clinical mix

    Requirements

    • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
    • NCCPA certification and eligibility for state licensure
    • Strongly preferred: Surgical experience in plastic surgery
    • Preferred: 1+ years of clinical experience in a surgical specialty
    • Will consider highly motivated new graduates with significant plastic surgery-focused electives, rotations, or surgical residency/fellowship experience
    • Excellent clinical judgment, team orientation, and communication skills
