Hospitalist

A New Jersey-based healthcare system is currently seeking a licensed Hospitalist, with a Pediatric background, to join their team at one of their facilities in Essex County.

About the Opportunity

• Start Date: ASAP
• Assignment Length: Ongoing
• Schedule: 7 on, 7 off (12 hour shifts)
• Patient Volume: 15 to 20 per day
• EMR: Cerner

Job Description

• Admit children and adolescents to the hospital when they require inpatient care
• Conduct thorough evaluations of patients, reviewing their medical history, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests to make accurate diagnoses and create treatment plans
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric medical conditions, including infectious diseases, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal disorders, surgical conditions, and more
• Make daily rounds on hospitalized patients to assess their progress, update treatment plans, and ensure continuity of care
• Perform various procedures, including lumbar punctures, central line placements, and intubations, when necessary to manage and treat pediatric patients
• Communicate with patients' families to provide updates on their child's condition, explain treatment plans, and address any questions or concerns
• Work on discharge plans and ensure that patients are stable and safe for discharge, and that appropriate follow-up care is arranged for continued recovery
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the hospital to enhance patient care and safety
• Perform other duties, as needed

Requirements

• Licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey
• Board Eligible / Certified
• PALS certification
• Experience working with the Pediatric population
