Registered Nurse Supervisor
Schedule: Will work 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM three days per week.
The primary function of this position is to oversee and supervise the total delivery of nursing care and related services for all residents in compliance with all federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations which govern the facility. This is done as directed by the Director of Nursing Services and/or the Administrator to ensure each resident's medical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs and wishes are met effectively and efficiently on a continuum.
Job Description
- Plans, organizes, directs, and provides resident care and services according to physician orders and the interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Administers drugs and treatments in compliance with facility policy and procedures.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of resident assessments and interdisciplinary plans of care.
- Makes daily resident rounds, addressing and correcting any necessary operational issues as indicated, making verbal and/or written reports for the Director of Nursing Services.
- Performs venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
- Initiates and maintains IV therapy including the administration of IV medications.
- Assists subordinate positions in rendering care and services as necessary and/or directed.
- Answers resident call bells, regardless of assignment.
- Adheres to, upholds, and enforces all facility policies and procedures.
- Completes various documentation and reports as directed.
- Monitors and supervises the work of the L.P.N.s and Nursing Assistants to ensure the needs of each resident are met on a continuum.
- Assists in scheduling, training/orienting, and initiating disciplinary actions as warranted.
- Attends all department meetings, educational programs, etc., to the Director of Nursing Services.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and in possession of a valid license issued by the Commonwealth of PA.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a long-term care setting.
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to follow oral and written direction.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Must be able to walk extensively, sit for extended periods of time, bend, lift, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds frequently. Must be able to operate lifting equipment regularly and push and pull carts and/or resident transportation devices up to three hundred (300) pounds. Is subject to frequent interruptions and must adjust schedule accordingly. May be subject to emotionally distraught residents, family members, visitors, personnel, etc., and must possess the ability to cope with the stresses of the environment. Must be able to work mandatory overtime as needed and/or as outlined in the personnel policies.
