Resident Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join our clinical team in Bristol, CT. Choose between locations: New Britain, CT; Bristol, CT; Plainville, CT; Waterbury, CT; Hartford, CT. This one-year residency program, starting in Fall 2025, offers structured mentorship, hands-on experience, and professional development in a supportive primary care setting. Under the supervision of board-certified Primary Care Nurse Practitioners and Physicians, you will gain valuable clinical skills while providing high-quality patient care.
Job Description
- Conduct medical evaluations, develop accurate diagnoses, and formulate treatment plans in accordance with clinical best practices.
- Perform physical health examinations, preventive screenings, and medication management.
- Prescribe therapeutic interventions and administer medications as required.
- Monitor and support patients' self-care management and provide necessary health education.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and clinical assessments to evaluate patient needs.
- Utilize evidence-based practice to triage clinical emergencies and implement safety protocols.
- Document clear and concise clinical impressions and treatment plans.
Requirements
- Registered Nursing degree and a relevant Master's degree in Nursing.
- Certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Active Connecticut APRN license and Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Active DEA controlled substance registration and Connecticut controlled substance registration.
- Ability to acquire and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
Clinical Expertise
- Strong foundation in primary care, chronic disease management, and preventive care.
- Experience or training in triaging clinical emergencies and implementing safety protocols.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
