Emergency Medicine Physician

I am working with Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, VA through OVP Health, and they are looking for some temporary Emergency Medicine coverage over the next several months.

Job Description

• Provide emergency medicine coverage at Buchanan General Hospital, a 124-bed facility with an ER volume of approximately 10,000 patients per year.
• Work day shifts from 8 AM to 8 PM, covering 10-14 shifts per month.
• Assist until a permanent ER physician is hired due to the recent vacancy.
• Acceptable qualifications include ABEM and IM/FP ER physicians.
• Coverage needed for specific shifts in January: 1, 2, 18, 21, and 24-26.
• Admission rate is 11% with a transfer rate of 9%.
• Transfer locations include PMC, Ballad (Bristol, Johnson City, Kingsport, Holston Valley), and Clinch Valley.
• Scribes are not available; intermediate APP coverage is provided.
• The emergency department does not handle admissions and has code response backup to hospitalists.
• EMR used is CPSI.

Requirements

• Emergency privileging can be completed in a couple of weeks for physicians with a clean file.
• If the physician is not ABEM certified, the FP/IM ER physician will need active ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS CPR certifications.

Compensation

• $310-315 per hour for ABEM physicians.
• $275 per hour for FP/IM ER physicians.
