Orthopedic Coverage

I am working with Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY, and they are looking for some temporary orthopedic coverage over the next several months.

Job Description

• Coverage needed ASAP and ongoing for all of 2025 at least
• Two weeks of coverage per month, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
• 24-hour call on Saturday/Sunday (not for ER call, only for patient call and possible morning rounding)
• 3 days in clinic and 2 days in the OR (days may change due to OR scheduling)
• Physician will be "on call" for the ER while on shift, no night call duties
• Minimum length of assignment: 1-2 weeks a month
• 20-25 patients per day in clinic
• 3-5 cases per day in the OR
• Anticipated surgeries per week: 5-15
• Full scope of orthopedic care including pediatrics (minimal), hand, arthroplasty (hip and knee), trauma (hip fracture, closed reduction, spanning external fixators for ankle fractures, pilon fractures, plateau fractures, compartment syndrome release, acetabular and pelvic fractures - nonoperative management only, open fracture debridement and stabilization)
• Podiatry coverage 50% of the time, remaining is orthopedics

Requirements

• Required procedures for locum: Adults, fracture & bread and butter ortho trauma, elective total joint replacements
• Prefer joint or trauma fellowship but not required for locums
• EMR: EPIC
• 60 days to privilege
• Physicians must be board certified or truly board eligible
• Physicians must have an active New York license
• Physicians must have an active BLS CPR certificate

Compensation

• $300-310 per hour with an 8-hour guarantee Monday to Friday per 24-hour call
• $360-372 per hour for any hour worked past 5 PM Monday through Friday or any hour worked in the facility while on call Saturday/Sunday
