    Medical Assistant - Orthopedics Clinic

    Join our team at Olathe Health Medical Park North, located on West 151st Street. This full-time role in our Orthopedics Clinic offers a supportive environment with hours from Monday to Friday, including an hour lunch break.

    Job Description

    • Ensure efficient flow of patients through the health care setting by facilitating examination and treatment in a culturally sensitive manner with exceptional customer service.
    • Contribute to patient care by preparing patients for visits, performing limited procedures, scheduling diagnostic tests or consults, maintaining patient records, organizing clinic/exam rooms, and maintaining supply/equipment inventory.
    • Assist physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members in patient care.
    • Accurately schedule tests, obtain films and reports, and prepare laboratory specimens according to policy.
    • Collaborate with members of the health care team in coordinating and implementing plans for patient care; may record elements of the patient history for clinical staff review.
    • Electronically submit, call, and/or fax prescriptions and refills to outpatient pharmacies.
    • Maintain medical records; ensure all required documentation is available; distribute reports and correspondence; file, photocopy, and process forms related to medical charts.
    • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stock assigned areas and ensure par levels of supplies are maintained; check and complete required logs and equipment checks.
    • Perform clerical duties such as greeting patients, registration, scheduling, pre-certification of tests, processing insurance forms, preparing financial records, answering phones, and entering ambulatory care charges.
    • Perform simple procedures as directed by the nurse or physician as defined on the competency checklist.
    • Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures and document in the medical record.

    Requirements

    • High School Graduate.
    • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcare Association (NHA) OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals OR 1 or more years of Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days of hire.
