    Medical Billing Coder

    Job Description:

    • Gather charge/payment information and enter accurate information into the database
    • Distribute billing information appropriately
    • Research all information needed to complete the billing process, including obtaining charge information from providers
    • Key charge and payment information into EHR
    • Process and distribute copies of billings according to clinic policies
    • Assist with error resolutions
    • Research and appeal denied claims
    • Assist with delinquent claims
    • Check eligibility and benefits verification
    • Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
    • Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
    • Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe
    • Assist with answering telephone and provide information as requested
    • Participate in educational activities
    • Maintain strict confidentiality
    • Maintain Certification/CEU's (if applicable)
    • Be a positive role model for all health center staff
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
    • Fingerprint
    • OIG/SAMS exclusion list
    • A high school diploma or GED is required
    • Certified Professional Coder preferred
